Background:
Hammer & Nails homeowner selection process is one of the most important activities undertaken by the ministry.  The integrity and credibility of the Hammer & Nails projects depends upon a fair and nondiscriminatory homeowner selection process.

Hammer & Nails seeks to assist disadvantaged Stark County homeowners with home and property improvements that improve their living conditions and quality of life.  The length of time and number of service projects completed is determined by volunteer capability and material and funding resources available. Hammer & Nails, Inc. reserves the right to not select a homeowner if we do not have resources, volunteers or if a request is beyond our capabilities or if the situation is deemed an unsafe environment.    Hammer & Nails also reserves the right to go beyond the scheduled project tasks if the situation warrants. Additional resources may include, but are not limited to, food, clothing and household items. Hammer & Nails’ targeted population includes the elderly, the mentally/physically challenged, young families, single parent situations and/or the impoverished.

The decision to select a homeowner family is based solely on the discretionary judgment of the Hammer & Nails staff and selection committee.  Hammer & Nails looks at physical, spiritual and emotional needs, living conditions and income; however compassion is our driving force in final decision making.

Hammer & Nails, Inc. will use the following criteria to determine if assistance is possible:

• Hammer & Nails volunteers can safely perform the work requested.
• The environment is safe for the volunteers. Decisions concerning safety issues are solely at the discretion of Hammer & Nails staff and selection committee.
• Hammer & Nails has resources available or can acquire the necessary resources.
